My Life as a D3 Transfer: May 22 ‘09

Note: I didn’t even realize it when I published it, but my post from May 16 was my 100th. Pretty cool to have made it that far!

This post marks the end of my first week at NFL Films, which has definitely been a fun and educational experience so far. I’ve been working primarily with the NFL Network show “Playbook”, so my duties are primarily involved with video footage: researching it, finding it, logging it, etc. I’m already learning a lot, and I’m looking forward to the rest of my summer here.

This post also marks May 22, which marks the glorious day upon which, 19 years ago, I came into the world. Since NFL Films employees have today through Monday off, I’ve been taking it easy for my birthday. I woke up around 11, went to Dunkin’ Donuts, and so far have accomplished nothing with my day, which is exactly the way I wanted it.

I certainly don’t feel older, and 19 isn’t exactly a special age. At 15 I could get my learner’s permit. At 16 I could get my license. At 17, I didn’t need a parent/guardian to attend a R-rated movie. At 18, I could sign my own field trip forms for high school (much more important than my ability to buy tobacco or go to strip clubs). But 19 years confer no extra privileges.

Perhaps that’s why so far, 2009 hasn’t quite been my year (thanks in part to CC President Dick Celeste). However, I’ve resolved to make the best of that snafu. The way I’m trying to look at it, I have some excellent college choices. The hard part right now is making a decision. Schools are pulling out the big guns in the recruiting game, and all I know right now is that it’s going to be tough to say no to anyone at this point.

I’ve said before that it’s come to the point where my decision is practically a tossup. Since I’m a pretty religious guy, I’m taking the long Memorial Day weekend to relax, lay low and spend a lot of time praying and trying to figure out where God wants me to go. I’ve never had to make such a difficult decision in my life, so this decision simultaneously marks my most difficult and my most important one to date. Therefore, it’s definitely one I’ll need some help from above to make.

I should be deciding on a school within the next week, so keep an eye out for my decision both here and on Twitter.
